VICE President Dr Kembo Mohadi has described Zimbabwean visual artist Georgina Maxim’s fabric installation at the 61st International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale as a demonstration of exceptional talent and a source of national pride.

Dr Mohadi made the remarks after touring exhibitions at the Giardini Central Pavilion and spending time appreciating artistic work during the 2026 Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy.

Speaking after touring the exhibitions, VP Mohadi praised Maxim for her creativity and innovation, saying her achievements reflect positively on Zimbabwe.

“That’s genius work. I never thought someone could come up with such a piece of art from rags,” he said.

“She is doing well for herself and for Zimbabwe. I encourage her to do more of this. Other Zimbabwean artists should also come and exhibit here.”

The Vice President was accompanied by Sports, Arts, Recreation and Culture Minister Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe and other Government officials.

The country’s envoy to Italy, Ambassador Mietani Chauke and National Gallery of Zimbabwe executive director Raphael Chikukwa led the tour.
