BULILIMA Constituency legislator Dingumuzi Phuti has thrown his weight behind the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3. He made the remarks during a rally held last Saturday at Gwambe Ward 2 in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South.

The event was aimed at conscientising Gwambe villagers on the status of the Bill, following nationwide parliamentary public hearings that began on Monday and are set to conclude today, Thursday.

Hundreds of ZANU PF supporters thronged Gwambe Primary School grounds, where they were also commended by Cde Phuti for voting for Emmerson Mnangagwa and himself in the 2023 harmonised elections.Cde Phuti began the day by touring a legacy science laboratory project at Gwambe Secondary School. He was accompanied by former Bulilima East MP Mathias Siqhoza Ndlovu.

The laboratory building is now at the roofing stage, with builders pushing to complete the project ahead of Independence Day, with this year’s national commemorations set to be held in Matobo District.

Cde Phuti also delivered windowpanes for the construction of a cottage at Gwambe Clinic, a project he is funding from personal resources. He has previously donated door frames, with cement supplies being delivered as needed.

He was welcomed by an energetic crowd of youths who expressed hope that his leadership will improve their livelihoods.

Cde Phuti said the passing of the Bill will promote policy continuity and sustainable long-term national development.

“Bill Number 3 aims to strengthen governance, enhance development and create opportunities for sustainable growth aligned with Vision 2030.

“It will also allow members of parliament to vote for President, something that is being done in Botswana and South Africa among other countries. I am fully behind the Bill as it will help President Mnangagwa achieve Vision 2030 of an upper middle-income society. We will also be able to finish the projects we are doing in the ward and across the constituency,” said Cde Phuti.
