The mother of a child who was abducted on Tuesday and found two days later has revealed that the suspect posed as a fellow trader before fleeing with her daughter, and clarified that the alleged kidnapper was female , contrary to widespread belief.
An elated Nesisa Mpofu spoke of her ordeal and the overwhelming relief she felt when her daughter was safely located on Thursday.
Ms Mpofu said the suspect approached her under the guise of making casual business enquiries before seizing the opportunity to take the child. She dismissed claims circulating on social media that the abductor was male, stating that CCTV footage clearly shows the suspect was female.
“As the suspect was coming down, her clothing clearly indicated that she was female,” she said.
Ms Mpofu admitted she was in disbelief when she received news that her daughter had been found.
“I couldn’t believe it when they told me my child had been found. I thought perhaps they had made a mistake. I was overjoyed to see that it was truly her because I had begun to lose hope after two days without my daughter.
“I want to thank the police for finding my child. I also want to thank the people of Zimbabwe for your prayers and assistance. My daughter was found in good health, and there is nothing wrong with her,” she said.
