At 10:10 pm on Saturday, 4 October 2025, Winky D held the mic just before climbing onto the stage and chanted Gafa.
Clad in a gleaming gold suit adorned with his signature style, the crowd erupted as if the underground gold miners had just announced the discovery of a gold belt.
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation for what became one of the most spectacular shows held in Zimbabwe this year.
In his one-hour and eight-minute set, Winky D rightfully declared, “ndakachibata kuti dzvii,” a street lingo affirming his reign as the king of the music industry, and the crowd roared in approval.
Fans from Bulawayo, travelling over 420 kilometres in kombis just to see him perform, underscored his status as the country’s top music performer.
The 2025 Chibuku Road to Fame organisers introduced him with a firecracker storm lasting over two minutes, igniting the air with party energy that perfectly synced with the Vigilance band.
Winky D belted out hits such as Ninja, Disappear, and Gafa Life, keeping the Gwanzura Stadium packed to capacity, with fans spilling onto the pitch and filling VIP and VVIP tents. His trademark chant, Gafa kusvika ndafa, echoed throughout the venue.
Outside, children under 18 were left watching from the perimeter as organisers restricted entry to the adult environment of the stadium.
From tracks like Ninja, Disappear, Gafa Life, and Sekai, Winky D had the crowd eating out of his hand.
Earlier in the evening, Zimdancehall maestro Killer Tee captivated the stadium, connecting with ghetto youths and proving his catalogue appeals across generations — from the 2K and 90s generation to the older fans.
Fast-rising acts Nisha Ts and Saintfloew had the youthful audience singing along to almost every track. Nisha Ts, with her Admire Kadembo anthem, left the crowd still yearning for more, while Saintfloew brought energy and excitement as soon as he hit the stage.
The Nash TV crew, led by Tinashe Mutarisi, came out to support the performers, and the night was sealed with Ninety6 delivering an impromptu performance of the hit track Gumba Kumba.
Overall, the entertainers proved why they are some of the most loved, followed, and energetic performers in Zimbabwe.
