WATER is life, but in this case it turned into war!
A 48-year-old Fort Rixon woman has appeared in court after allegedly sjamboking her ex-sister-in-law during a heated fight over water.
Snikiwe Mpofu appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Themba Chimiso facing an assault charge following the dramatic clash.
The complainant, Sikhathazile Dlodlo, is Mpofu’s former sister-in-law, as she was once married to Dlodlo’s brother.
According to State papers, the incident happened on March 16 at around 2PM while the two women were fetching water at a borehole.
Court heard that tensions boiled over after an exchange of harsh words.
Mpofu allegedly struck Dlodlo once on the back with a sjambok.
But the drama didn’t end there.
In retaliation, Dlodlo allegedly picked up a brick and struck Mpofu once on the right ankle, turning the argument into a full-blown physical confrontation.
It is further alleged that Dlodlo had insulted Mpofu, escalating the situation and leading to the violent clash.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to Mpofu’s arrest.
She appeared in court and was remanded out of custody to April 11 for commencement of trial.
