THE Nedbank Premier Netball League (PNL) season will wrap up in style next weekend when all 16 teams converge at White City Stadium in Bulawayo for the final two-day bubble, bringing the curtain down on what has been a thrilling campaign.
The spotlight will fall on the title race and the survival battle as teams fight for crucial points in the closing games of the season. Matches will once again be played in a bubble format, creating a festival atmosphere for fans expected to throng the venue.
Harare City go into the decisive weekend as log leaders with 50 points after winning 25 of their 26 matches, scoring an impressive 1 723 goals. They hold a two-point lead over Chapungu, while ZDF Queens sit third with 46 points after winning all their 23 games. They still have four fixtures in hand and remain in the title hunt.
At the other end of the table, Mutasa Falcons find themselves anchored at the bottom with just four points, having conceded a massive 1 479 goals.
The pick of Saturday’s fixtures will see ZDF Queens face Makate High Flyers, while Harare City meet Chapungu in a clash that could decide the championship. Another high-stakes encounter pits ZDF Queens against Chapungu in what promises to be a tactical and emotional showdown.
League spokesperson Innocent Ndiya said this season has been one of the best yet, paying tribute to sponsors and partners for keeping the league vibrant.
“The 2025 Nedbank Premier Netball League season has been a resounding success. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our sponsors, title sponsor Nedbank Zimbabwe, and others, including Brooke Elite, Street Holdings, Fambai Capital, ZLG, and several businesspersons who supported our bubble awards and provided essentials like water,” said Ndiya.
He added that the league calendar had been packed with events from the pre-season tournament in March to regular fixtures and regional competitions that included both national teams and clubs.
Chapungu were among the standout performers, winning a silver medal at the Find the Ball Tournament in Botswana last month, an event dedicated to raising cancer awareness.
“As we close the season, we’re already planning for a bigger and better 2026, with more corporate partners expected to come on board,” Ndiya said.
