WHY ROSEANNA HALL WON MISS UNIVERSE 2026 CROWN

THE Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 grand finale came and went but one question continues to dominate social media timelines and beauty pageant circles: “How did Roseanna Hall win?”

The answer is simple — she won because she earned and deserved it.

While some critics continue to question Roseanna’s victory due to her previous involvement with the pageant, as a judge in previous edition, what many fail to understand is that this year’s competition operated under a completely different framework and rules. And, there was absolutely nothing preventing her from entering the contest.

Social media was immediately set ablaze following her crowning moment.

Some questioned how Roseanna emerged victorious while others went as far as alleging favouritism and even nepotism. However, those claims largely ignored how the competition was structured. Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 was not judged solely on what audiences witnessed during the grand finale. Contestants were evaluated throughout an intensive bootcamp process that tested far more than beauty. Scores were accumulated through interviews, public speaking exercises, runway presentations, personal branding, advocacy projects and various challenges leading up to the grand finale.

By the time the contestants stepped onto the grand finale stage, judges already had a comprehensive understanding of each participant’s strengths, weaknesses, consistency and overall suitability to represent Zimbabwe internationally.

The final question-and-answer segments merely added to a much larger assessment process that had been taking place for days.

While crowd reaction and social media support often influence public perception, pageant outcomes are determined through a judging criteria and accumulated scores rather than popularity contests. That reality may not always align with public favourites, but it remains the standard practice across major international pageants.

Perhaps that explains why some fans were left surprised by the final outcome.

The audience saw a few hours of competition, the judges witnessed an entire journey.

In fact, international pageantry has numerous examples of contestants who previously served as presenters, performers, pageant hosts, mentors, judges or ambassadors before eventually stepping onto the competition stage themselves.

The rules allow it, provided all eligibility requirements are met. Pageantry is not a secret society where prior exposure becomes a lifetime ban.Experience is often an advantage, not a crime.

Roseanna entered the competition as an eligible contestant and went through the same selection processes as everyone else.

More importantly, she arrived with years of modelling experience under her belt.

From runway confidence to stage presence, interview skills and overall composure, Roseanna looked every bit a queen prepared for the international stage.

Her polished delivery throughout the competition reflected someone who understood the demands of modern beauty pageants, where advocacy, communication and professionalism matter as much as physical beauty.

For many fans inside the packed venue, Malaika emerged as the people’s favourite.

Every time she stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted into deafening cheers.

Social media also heavily backed her throughout the competition. However, pageants are ultimately judged on score sheets, not applause meters.

While she narrowly missed the ultimate crown, Malaika’s efforts were rewarded when she secured the Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe title, a prestigious international ticket that keeps her global dreams alive. This year, organisers made history by crowning seven international representatives, creating more opportunities for Zimbabwean women to shine on the world stage.

The move was widely applauded and signals a new era for local pageantry.

The entertainment segment was equally memorable.Award-winning singer Xiba opened the show in spectacular fashion, setting the tone for a night that would be dominated by girl power.

Her energetic performance electrified the audience and perfectly complemented the celebration of female excellence taking place on stage.

Veteran broadcaster Tich Mataz and Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi, displayed remarkable chemistry as hosts. Their natural interaction, humour and effortless stage control kept audiences engaged throughout the evening.

Zozi’s presence alone elevated the profile of the event. The South African beauty queen brought global star power while Tich contributed his trademark charisma and broadcasting experience, creating one of the strongest hosting combinations seen at a local pageant in years.

Yet, despite the glamour and excitement, organisers were not spared criticism. The pageant started later than expected and stretched into the early hours of the morning.

While most attendees agreed the production quality, staging, lighting and overall experience were impressive, the duration became a major talking point.International pageant standards increasingly favour concise productions lasting between two and three hours.

Audiences today consume entertainment differently, and organisers will likely need to streamline future editions to maintain momentum and keep viewers engaged from start to finish.

Still, those shortcomings were not enough to overshadow what was ultimately a successful event.
