AWARD-WINNING dancehall musician Winky D came through a tough examination of stamina with two big shows held within a matter of hours in Harare and Bulawayo.
Winky D delivered two standout performances in the country’s two biggest cities, within a matter of hours, wearing strikingly different outfits.
He first took to the stage in Bulawayo in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) where he wore a sleek black ensemble detailed with silver embellishments. The sharp, polished look matched the importance of the prestigious event, giving him a classy and commanding presence as he entertained fans at one of the country’s biggest annual gatherings.Later in the afternoon, Winky D switched gears and headed to Harare for the popular Doek & Slay all women’s parties where thousands of women gathered for an afternoon of fashion, celebration and entertainment.
For the ladies party, Winky D stepped out in a more eye-catching black jacket decorated with bold white patterns and gold detailing topped off with a stylish white hat.
The Doek & Slay look appeared playful and fashion-conscious, fitting perfectly with the glamour and elegance associated with the all-women’s event.
After moving from different cities the past month, the ladies’ party rolled into Harare with thousands of women making their way to the Glamis Arena. The Travellers Band, Oriyano and Killer T also performed.Atenda Chinx came in as a surprise act with Ritz also showing support to the single mothers. The VIP ladies were happy as this time they got the full view of the show.
Over the years, Doek & Slay has built a loyal following in Zimbabwe and beyond, attracting large crowds, wherever it is hosted.
The Harare edition once again lived up to expectations with women displaying the sisterhood that has become synonymous with such events. The platform, created by Event Hulks, has become far more than a social gathering.
It moves to Bulawayo on Sunday where the City of Kings and Queens will be hosting South African star Nkosazana Daughter and the Travellers Band.
This is the first Doek and Slay show with a performer from outside the country.
