A 71-year-old woman from Macheke, Jane Kaseke, took part in the Zimbabwe Republic Police Women Network Health and Wellness initiative in Harare on Saturday.

She was part of the 3,408 participants.

She won first place in the elderly women’s 5km race.

The funds raised during this event are dedicated to supporting cancer patients – a cause close to Kaseke’s heart.

“I travelled to Harare to support this initiative that benefits cancer patients,” she said.

“Our health is our wealth, and staying active keeps me fit. Plus, my athletic pursuits help pay for my daughter’s education.”

Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who secured first place among the police commissioners, echoed Kaseke’s sentiments.

“I run several kilometres every day to maintain my fitness and I urge my fellow officers to prioritise their health,” he said.
