Woman accuses ex-lover of abuse

A HARARE woman last Friday applied for a protection order against her former boyfriend whom she is accusing of physically abusing her alleging that she stole his US$500.

Rufaro Mahachi said Takura Matambacheka was in the habit of assaulting and poking her whenever they meet.

“Even in public he assaults me just to embarrass me, accusing me of stealing his money that is why I decided to come to this court for help,” said Mahachi.

The woman also said she was no longer safe as Matambacheka monitored her movements.

“lf I can count every single dollar which he gave me, the amount is less than US$10, so how can he accuse me of stealing? On top of that, he beats me. He had the guts to tell my new boyfriend that I am a prostitute.”

In his defence, Matambacheka disputed the allegations stating that he no longer loved Mahachi and he only wanted his US$500.

“This lady stole my money and I am not leaving her until she returns it. She ran to report to cover her mess, but I want my money. I am disputing the allegations, she is only trying to fix me,” he said.

However, the court granted an order in favour of Mahachi.
