A TWO-AND-HALF-YEAR-OLD boy succumbed to injuries sustained when he was bashed by his guardian for messing himself up in Highfield.
Panashe Mutekesi, 25, who was taking care of Malvern Mutekesi, bashed him after he messed himself up.
Panashe had been taking care of Malvern since December last year when the child’s mother went to work in Glendale as a house maid.
After bashing the child, Panashe bathed him before helping him to sleep.
At around 5pm that day, Malvern started showing signs that he was not well.
He was taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he was admitted.
Last week, at around 9am, Malvern died.
A post-mortem was conducted and results concluded that his death was due to ‘traumatic brain injury’.
The report recommended police investigations.
Panashe is now on the run.
National police spokesperson Commissioner, Paul Nyathi, could not be reached for comment.
However, H-Metro is reliably informed that the case was reported at ZRP Machipisa under RRB 6893876.
