DIVA Gemma Griffith says female musicians have proved their mettle in the competitive and tough local music industry.
She feels the time has now come for promoters to invest their faith in the power and talent of female artists and start believing that the divas can fill venues.
“Over the years, I believe women in the entertainment industry have proven that they can do what male artists can.
“Promoters should now have faith in us, we can fill up venues.”
Their drawing power will be under scrutiny when they perform at the “Nubian Notes” show scheduled for November 8 at the HICC.
Gemma will share the stage with Feli Nandi, Tamy Moyo, Nisha Ts and Shashl.
“Music has this amazing way of connecting us and that’s exactly the vibe I want everyone to take away.
“Expect a show full of connection. I will be performing some of my favourite songs, sharing a few surprises, and creating moments that tell my story.
“More than anything, I want the audience to leave uplifted and feeling part of something special.
“It means so much to be part of this all-female show. “I really think it’s about time we had something like this in Zimbabwe. It feels good to be surrounded by powerful women doing their thing,” she said.
Feli Nandi and Tamy Moyo believe that the “Nubian Notes,” is more than a musical movement but a revolution in the industry.
“It is such a great honour and an awesome privilege. All I can say is that it was about time.
“We are ready to show that women can definitely do it too. This platform is not just a performance, it is a statement that women belong at the forefront of our music scene,” said Feli Nandi.
Tamy said: “It is powerful to stand among women who are rewriting the story of creativity.
“This show celebrates our strength, softness, and individuality.
“It reminds me that feminine expression deserves to take up space, unapologetically.”
She added:
“My set is inspired by womanhood, its strength, vulnerability and rhythm,” she said.
“I want the audience to feel seen, to leave with hearts full and spirits lifted. Every song tells a piece of that shared story.
“Women are no longer waiting for doors to open, we are building new ones. We are redefining leadership, style, and creativity with authenticity and power.
“The industry feels more honest because of it.”
