UNITED Kingdom-based Zimbabwean Gqom and Kwaito musician “Xosti”, has hinted on retiring from music recording and performances as he is diverting his energy to scouting for the next superstar among Bulawayo youngsters.
This comes after releasing a hit song titled Khwamashede, featuring Mzansi’s multi-award-winning Qwabe Twins and Lungi. The song was produced by Zimbabwean, Mr Brown.
Before dropping the mic, Xosti said he will release his final single featuring Nkabi Nation’s Xowla, who has produced for heavyweights like Big Zulu, Nathi Mankayi, Azana, Lwa Ndlunkulu, Mduduzi Ncube, to mention a few.
“I believe I have done great in my career. I have done successful songs under my record label, Criminal Records. I have featured some of the great Southern African musicians including Zola 7, DJ Tira, Rethabile Khumalo, Nani Ntengo, and recently, the Q Twins.
“I have already done my final song with Xowla and after its release, I am thinking of stopping producing music for myself and performing. I am diverting all my energy to discovering young talents from Bulawayo and Mzansi because I know there are young people out there who are waiting for that life-changing opportunity,” said Xosti.
Born and bred in Bulawayo, Xosti revealed that growing up in the city of Kings hardened him and contributed in polishing his craft as he mostly sings about experiences from the second capital.

He believes that there are a lot of Bulawayo stories that need to be shared with the rest of the world, and youngsters from the city must be afforded with the spotlight to showcase their craft and tell their own stories.
“I grew up in Bulawayo, I know how hard it is to be talented and lacking means to produce a song that has the capacity to change the situation back home.
“With that in mind, I have taken it upon myself as the owner of Criminal Records to shift my focus and help someone out there to realise their dreams. No one knows, maybe the best artiste from Africa will come out of Bulawayo,” said Xosti.
