ZAMBEZI KILLER STRIKES: Canoe guide mauled by crocodile

VICTORIA Falls is in shock after a veteran canoe guide was killed by a crocodile on the Zambezi River on Friday afternoon.

The tragedy struck near Kadahar Island, a favourite spot for river safaris. The victim, 43-year-old Marlven Nyoni from Mkosana, was an assistant guide with the Victoria Falls Canoe Company.

Witnesses say the attack occurred during a routine canoe trip. Nyoni’s body has since been recovered from the river.

ZIMPARKS Public Relations Manager Tinashe Farawo confirmed the shocking incident. “We can confirm the report of a canoe guide attacked and killed by a crocodile. Our officers attended the incident whereby an assistant to a canoe guide was attacked and killed by a crocodile during a canoe trip along the Zambezi River at Kadahar Island,” he said.

Farawo said the exact circumstances of the attack remain unclear. “Circumstances on how exactly he got attacked are not yet clear. A detailed update with circumstances will follow once we get the full details,” he said.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the attack.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Victoria Falls’ tourism industry, which relies heavily on the Zambezi River for adventure activities.
