Mthabisi Tshuma recently in Ntunungwe
THE ruling party, Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Province leadership, visited 122-year-old Mr Anuloisa Banda to present him with a donation of groceries as part of efforts to enhance his social welfare.
If verified, Mr Banda’s age would surpass that of the current Guinness World Record holder, Ethel Caterham from the United Kingdom, who is 116 years old.
The Ntunungwe villager recently had a borehole drilled near his homestead.
The delegation included Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Richard Ndlovu, Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Provincial Chairman and Minister of Industry and Commerce Cde Nqobizitha Ndllovu, Zanu-PF Central Committee member and ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti, Bulilima District Development Coordinator Mr Onesimo Zogara, Zanu-PF Bulilima DCC leadership among other Senior Government officials.
Deputy Minister Phuti who is also Bulilima Constituency legislator and sourced the donations said it is high time Mr Banda gets his deserved recognition.
“This man is unarguably the oldest living person in the world. I am proud that he is a Zimbabwean and from my constituency, Bulilima. We visited him to honour and to mobilise support for his welfare. I invite Government, private sector, academia, health fraternity, civic society and the world at large to give attention to the good symbol of humanity through God’s grace.
“Our launch of a telemedicine project at Ntunungwe was done in his honour and we also coupled it with a tree planting session to promote life in honor of Banda with deliberate bias to the National tree planting week starting in December.
This whole journey and observation is motivate by President ED Mnangagwa’s vision, of inclusion and prosperity to realisation of an upper middle income society by 2030,” said Deputy Minister Phuti.
