ZANU PF has stepped up preparations for its 23rd Annual National People’s Conference, set for Mashonaland West in October.
The party has intensified resource mobilisation efforts for the high‑profile gathering, with emphasis placed on transparency throughout the process.
Speaking at a preliminary coordination meeting held at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) yesterday, Zanu PF Director-General Cde Thadius Pesanai Chadenga stressed the need for integrity in handling resources.
Cde Chadenga, who also chairs the Conference Coordination Technical Committee, said the mobilisation process would be closely monitored to ensure transparency.
“Let me hasten to say that in all these activities we expect 100 percent transparency, especially in resource mobilisation,” he said.
“Any suspicions of corrupt activities will be thoroughly investigated and culprits prosecuted.
“Resources received from donors ought to be officially communicated to the National Chairman, who will originate a letter of acknowledgement to express the party’s gratitude.”
Cde Chadenga challenged the host province to rise to the occasion and exceed expectations, describing the conference as an opportunity to reinforce Mashonaland West’s reputation as “Mashonaland Best”.
“Achieving this ambitious goal requires unity of purpose, unwavering diligence and hard work from all stakeholders,” he said.
He also underscored the importance of cultural and entertainment programmes in showcasing the province’s heritage and the country’s diversity.
Cde Chadenga encouraged party members to execute their responsibilities with dedication, drawing inspiration from the leadership of President Mnangagwa, who is also the party’s First Secretary.
Mashonaland West Zanu PF provincial chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said the province was fully prepared to host the conference.
“We have activated all systems on both the party and Government sides to ensure the successful hosting of the conference,” she said.
The meeting served as a key platform to assess progress, with various sub-committees expected to present detailed updates, including budgets and resource mobilisation strategies.
Key focus areas include security arrangements, accommodation and welfare of delegates, transport logistics, communication and publicity, health and emergency services, as well as overall venue readiness.
