The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has removed 6 284 dead people from the voters’ roll in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.

The list of the deceased persons removed was published by ZEC chief elections officer, Mr Simbarashe Tongai under General Notice 609 of 2026 in an Extraordinary Government Gazette today (Friday).

“It is hereby notified, in terms of Section 33(4) as read with Section 27(1) of the Electoral Act, that voter registration officers have reason to believe that the persons whose names are listed in the First Schedule, and who were registered as voters for the constituencies, wards and polling stations listed therein, have died.

“The names of those persons will be removed from the voters’ roll unless notice of appeal is given to ZEC,” Mr Tongai said.

He said any voter who is alive but appears on the list has seven days from the date of publication of the notice to lodge an objection with ZEC at its headquarters in Harare or its provincial offices.
