Zim women fall to Scotland

IT is three defeats in a row for Zimbabwe women.

In the process, Scotland secured their first win in Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Group B by defeating Zimbabwe by five wickets in Nepal.

The Scots had opened with a seven-run loss to the Netherlands on Tuesday and bowled Zimbabwe out for 101 in 18.4 overs, with Modester Mupachikwa 30 not out.

Katherine Fraser’s 44 was the major contribution in Scotland’s innings, with captain Kathryn Bryce adding 23 as they replied with 105-5.

Craig Wallace’s side reached their target with more than six overs to spare at Mulpani Stadium and face Thailand on Saturday morning, before Zimbabwe play the hosts in the afternoon.

The Dutch have already qualified for the Super 6 stage, leaving two spots open for Scotland, Nepal, Thailand and Zimbabwe to contest.
