The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has forecast strong winds across Zimbabwe from Friday to Monday, with some areas also likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and light rain.
The weather alert, which runs from September 4 to September 7, covers the entire country, with Chipinge, Chiredzi, Chimanimani and Nyanga likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and light rain.
Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Bulawayo have been identified as areas facing a higher risk of lightning during the period.
The strong winds could result in damage to crops, fallen trees and damage to structures, while farmers have been urged to take measures to protect their crops.
Farmers have been advised to use windbreaks to minimise the impact of strong winds and remain alert to possible grain and fungal-related problems resulting from the weather conditions.
Members of the public have also been urged to secure rooftops, trim branches that could pose a danger and avoid standing near trees and poles during lightning.
The MSD urged the public to remain alert and follow updates issued through its official communication channels.
