FOREIGN Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira, says Zimbabwe’s recent triumphs at international expos highlight the country’s rising prominence on the global stage.
He made the remarks in response to Zimbabwe’s successful showcase of its investment opportunities, culture, and innovation at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. The Zimbabwe Pavilion proved popular, attracting thousands of visitors daily, and served as a strategic platform to promote investment, tourism, and partnerships—particularly in infrastructure, energy, and ICT.
Speaking after the conclusion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Professor Murwira emphasised the importance of such events in positioning Zimbabwe as a premier destination for trade and tourism.
“One thing that we made them learn was how to do an exposition — because we won in Osaka. Last week we went again for another expo with ZimTrade, our exposition platform, where we won in Botswana. When we went to Algeria in September, we won again. When we went to Zambia in July, we won, and when we went to Rwanda — I think it was in July — we won. When we went to Egypt, we won. When we went to Mozambique, we won,” said Professor Murwira.
He added: “Zimbabwe is doing well under the leadership of His Excellency, the President Dr ED Mnangagwa. We are learning how to improve and expose the country to international visitors, which is why we are the best country to visit in 2025.”
Professor Murwira stressed that for Zimbabwe to thrive economically, it must actively engage in global trade.
“This economy can only grow well through trade, and this is one of the strategic benefits we gained from Osaka. Zimbabwe cannot be underestimated. We can always learn more, but we are doing our best to ensure that this country is on the world stage — to trade, to attract tourism, and ultimately to improve the lives of our people.”
His remarks come as the Government intensifies efforts to position Zimbabwe as a top destination for international visitors. Professor Murwira noted that expos offer critical opportunities to showcase the country’s potential and attract investment, thereby fostering sustainable economic growth.
