THE Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) has partnered with Nevsun select Hall to host the 2025 National Singles Pool Championship in Masvingo on 22 and 23 November.
Tournament director Wellington “Dewa” Chikasha said the event is expected to attract a large field of players and fans from across the country.
“Registration is pegged at US$30 for the men’s category and US$20 for women. The deadline is 20 November, and there will be no registration on the day of the tournament,” said Chikasha.
He added that the draw will be conducted by ZIPA board members or delegated officials, and all players are required to be present.
“Play will commence on Saturday, 22 November. Once games begin, players must ensure they are available. Anyone not present will be given five minutes to arrive before a frame is forfeited. After 12 minutes, the entire game will be awarded to the opponent,” he said.
Chikasha confirmed the tournament will follow a single elimination format.
“For the first round up to the semi-finals, it will be a race to five (best of nine), and from the semi-finals to the final, it will be a race to seven (best of 13),” he said.
The men’s champion will walk away with a trophy and US$700, while the runner-up will receive US$400 and a trophy. Third and fourth-placed players will each earn US$200 and medals. In the women’s division, the winner will take home US$400, the runner-up US$200, and the third-placed player US$100.
“The tournament will be played under blackball rules. Players are required to wear black formal trousers, a white shirt or Fish Eagles shirt, and black closed shoes. No shorts, gumboots, or slippers are allowed. Failure to adhere to the dress code will result in automatic loss of that frame. All referees will be provided by the hosting province, although this may change if the tournament director deems it necessary,” he said.
