AT least 900 members of the Zimbabwe National Army from various formations and units under the ZNA Northern Region have gathered at the Inkomo Garrison to compete in various sporting disciplines.

The qualifying competitions are running under the theme, “Enhancing Teamwork and Esprit De Corps Through Sports”.

Commander Mechanised Brigade Brigadier-General Raban Nikisi opened the games this morning, highlighting the importance of sports in fostering teamwork and physical fitness.

“Let’s make these Inter-formations Sports Eliminations a memorable event and let’s emerge stronger and more united than ever before,” he said.

“To all those who are not participating, take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the solidarity week meant to refresh our minds while interacting with each other.”

Teams from the Mechanised Brigade, 2 Brigade, Artillery Brigade, Presidential Guard Brigade, Masasa Logistics Garrison, Harare District, Mounted and Parachute regiments are participating in the games.

They are competing in table tennis, tennis, boxing, taekwondo, darts, pool, football and tug of war, among others.

The best teams will qualify for the inter-formations and units finals and will join those qualifying from the southern region.
