TRAGEDY can strike at any time. This sounds true to a family that stays in Zvishavane, Midlands Province after their family member Tinashe Chingono, was allegedly attacked severely on the head with a stone and died after a few days in hospital.

According to a Police Press statement, while Chingono was walking to his home, a car that had three male occupants drove towards him and abruptly stopped beside him before one of the male occupants bolted out of the car and bundled him into the car which drove off at a high speed and stopped at a place near a bushy area.

Upon reaching the bush things got too bad for Chingono as the crew allegedly attacked him and robbed him of his cell phone before stripping him naked and taking his clothes. They dumped him in the bush.

Chingono was assisted with clothes by a Good Samaritan after that he headed to a nearby police station where he reported the incident. He then went to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he was treated and given medication before he returned to his home. Sadly, while he was at his home his condition changed from bad to worse.

After that, he was ferried to the hospital where he spent a day, and on the following day he was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he died last week on Friday.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the three robbers.

“Anyone with information, whether insignificant may he or she kindly assist by supplying any nearest Police Station with the leads or may contact us on 054 2221073,” said Insp Mahoko.
