1, 4 million Zimbabweans get covid-19 jab

ABOUT 1, 4 million Zimbabweans have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as the country scales up efforts to inoculate 10 million people, a figure needed to achieve herd immunity.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care show that 44 deaths and 617 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Of the deaths, 33 were from health institutions while 11 were recorded from different communities around the country.

“About 18 452 people received their 1st dose today bringing cumulative for 1st dose to 1 447 342 while 2 286 received their 2nd dose bringing cumulative for 2nd dose to 680 060.as at 1600hrs,” said the Ministry.

“As of 24 July 2021, at 3PM, there were about 28 887 cases and of those 753 are hospitalised.

Parirenyatwa, Muzari, St Ruperts Hospitals, Masvingo and Midlands Provinces did not report today.”

As of July 25, 2021, Zimbabwe had recorded 97 894 cases including 65 913 recoveries and 3 094 deaths.
