10 designers to headline Ibumba iFashion Fest

Showbiz Reporter
TEN designers are set to showcase at the Ibumba Festival iFashion Fest at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo next month.

The fashion fete will be held on December 17 during the festival and will feature Kidd Hunta, Ara Kani, Zargue’ Sia, Chenna Nenni, Sanah Designs, Uruta, Bakhar, Yvette Ndaba, Bulawayo Polytechnic and Tapfumanei Munenge.

For front row seats, people will be expected to part with $7 while regular seats will cost $5.

Organiser of the event, Gilmore T said: “This year, the fashion industry has developed into a sector that’s relevant to the community, with most of our outstanding designers partaking in international shows.

“We’re extremely excited to bring together 10 outstanding designers from Zimbabwe under one roof to showcase their collections. We’ve guest designers joining us this year and people shouldn’t miss this.”

He said the fashion fair was a welcome boost to the industry as there were few fashion events in the city.

“After the abrupt cancellation of this year’s Intwasa fashion show, fashion lovers should look forward to iFashion Fest as it’s one of the very few fashion events in Bulawayo this year.”

Apart from the featured designers, Gilmore T said up-and-coming creatives would also showcase their designs.

“Bulawayo Polytechnic fashion students are set to showcase a collaborated collection just like the group of Bulawayo designers from the John Ablaza Project where 13 Matabeleland designers partook in the development workshops alongside 31 artisans. The products from the workshop will be displayed at iFashion Fest, something spectacular to look out for.”

The week-long iFest themed “Full On” kicks off on December 16 and will be spread at seven venues across the city, specifically presenting seven major shows in theatre, music and dance.
