TWO men who robbed a general dealer of US$30, a laptop, two cell phones and a speaker box at gunpoint, near Matopos Research Station, have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Clement Ndlovu (20) and Mduduzi Ndlovu (28) committed the crime on 8 January this year.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying the Ndlovu’s approached a shopkeeper and bought refreshments after posing as genuine customers.
“They went on to attack the shopkeeper before stealing US$30 cash, a laptop, two cellphones and a speaker box,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
He said police swiftly attended the scene after the shopkeeper made a report.
“Police then tracked the robbers to Insukamini Power Station in Figtree, where they were arrested. The arrest led to the recovery of all stolen items and a Star Eibar Espania S.A Pistol 9 mm caliber,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.
They both appeared at Plumtree Regional Court where they were convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
“Members of the public are urged to be alert and report all criminal acts at any nearest police station for swift action by the police. The police assure the public that the law will take its course on criminals without fear or favour,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
