PADENGA Holdings, a Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE)-listed company, has launched a free medical outreach programme for the marginalised Mola community in rural Kariba.

The initiative is being rolled out through its two crocodile farming units, Ume and Nyanyana Crocodile Farms in Kariba rural and urban, respectively.

The outreach programme, which began earlier this week, is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to contribute positively to the community in which it operates.

The beneficiaries, primarily the elderly, had a rare opportunity to receive personal consultations with professional medical doctors, in addition to accessing free medical services and supplies.

The Mola community is located 70km south of Kariba town.

This community relies on four clinics manned by registered nurses.

The introduction of a medical doctor and the provision of supplies, said Ume Crocodile Farm general manager, Mr Mike Ncube, aims to significantly address the healthcare challenges faced by many in the area.

Padenga’s initiative aligns with President Mnangagwa’s call for private sector involvement and for all Zimbabweans to help bridge the urban-rural divide, ensuring that no place or person is left behind.

The company has also opened doors for gifted learners by awarding scholarships. This is in addition to the construction of classroom blocks and the provision of books to various schools in Kariba rural.
