THE Civil Court has ordered businessman and former Zanu-PF Chitungwiza Ward 25 Councillor Fredrick Mabamba to pay $120 a month for the upkeep of his child.
His ex-girlfriend, Carolina Madovi, had demanded $8 200.
“The respondent is hereby ordered to pay $120 per month for the upkeep of the minor child and also put him on medical aid,” said magistrate Ms Gamuchirai Siwardi.
In her application filed at the Harare Civil Court, Madovi claimed she fell in love with Mabamba while working as a secretary at one of his schools.
“I was working for Fredrick Mabamba as a secretary at one of his schools in Zengeza 4 when we fell in love in July 2012,” reads part of Madovi’s application.
She claimed Mabamba owns flourishing business premises in Unit O Seke, and was also a land developer who owned United We Stand Cooperative.
“I gave birth to a premature baby boy on September 2013 at Belvedere Maternity Home. The baby stayed in the hospital for two months because of this special condition.
“The hospital bill amounted to $2 300 and I sold most of my assets in order to raise money and clear the bill,” reads Madovi’s application.
Madovi claimed Mabamba was earning at least $45 000 a month from his businesses yet he was failing to maintain his child.
She also claimed that Mabamba never paid a cent ever since the birth of the child.
“Currently, the baby is having challenges with his heart, lungs, liver and kidneys,” reads Madovi’s application.
