FOURTEEN people were injured when a commuter omnibus was hit from behind by a pickup truck and overturned along Masiyephambili Drive in Bulawayo.

The accident occurred on Wednesday around 9PM and the injured were rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital.

The city centre bound kombi was hit on the rear fender by the pickup truck that allegedly went through a red robot and the kombi overturned and rolled several times before landing on its wheels.

The driver and passengers of the South African registered truck fled from the scene.

Witnesses said some of the passengers were thrown out through windows and suffered serious injuries.

Bulawayo’s Chief Fire Officer Mr Richard Peterson confirmed the accident.

“The kombi rolled several times before landing on its wheels.

“All the 13 passengers and the driver were injured and they were rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital. The driver and the unknown number of passengers from the pick-up truck escaped from the scene,” he said. — @PrinceNkosy102
