15 MODELS TO BATTLE FOR MISS EBONY

TWELVE-models will battle for the inaugural Miss Ebony, which is aimed at decolonising the mind.

The pageant will be held on March 28, at the Harare Show Ground.

Currently, 21 girls are in bootcamp where they will be narrowed to 15, who will then compete for the prize money.

Drawn from different provinces, the winner will walk away with a car, cash prizes and three nights at Cresta Lodges.

In June, the queen will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Ebony Africa 2025 at a date yet to be advised.

One of the facilitators, Faith Mazana, said the event will run under the theme: Empowering through diversity, celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures and languages that make Zimbabwe unique.

“Miss Ebony Zimbabwe is not just a pageant but it’s not just a show, it is a revolution poised to dismantle the legacy of colonial beauty standards and forge a pathway to economic and social justice where black women lead.

“The problem is that for too long it has been about Western beauty dictates where African beauty is ignored.

“There are harmful stereotypes which neglect the rich diversity and inherent strength of African women and traditional pageants fail to reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic landscape of our nation,” said Faith.

She said the solution for Miss Ebony Zimbabwe is building a platform where inner strength, cultural pride, and intellectual prowess are valued above superficial appearances.

“It’s about beauty on our terms and our power.

“We are equipping young women with the tools they need to thrive as entrepreneurs, activists, and leaders.

“We are fostering a sense of community and unity among women, embracing our differences as strengths.”

Some of the judges include Dr Solomon Guramatunhu, Doreen Sibanda, Gianni Bauce, Yolanda Elizabeth Chimbarami, Sharon Chingwaro, and Lindiwe Noma Mtamzeli.
