A Bindura man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping his mentally challenged 15-year-old daughter.

The man (78) was arraigned before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that sometime in April 2023, the complainant was left in the custody of her father as her mother went to the city centre.

As the complainant was sleeping, her father reportedly got into her room, removed her clothes and raped her.

He threatened to crush her head with a brick if she ever told her mother about the offence.

The matter came to light on May 18 this year after the police got a tip-off from people who had heard the victim telling her friends about what had happened.
