A TOTAL of 16 top class acts progressed to the finals of the Bulawayo Got Talent Show with fast growing hip-hop dance group Anti-Virus among the finalists. The show, also referred to as Bulawayo Most Amazing Talents Show, meant to identify dancers, musicians, comedians and magicians among other performing arts, was held last Friday. The event attracted an overwhelming number of youths from all corners of Bulawayo who took to the stage to showcase their talents.
The judges on the day were faced with a mammoth task of choosing the best as all the groups were just good.
It was a fun-filled afternoon with some ‘wannabe artistes’ leaving audiences in stitches as they tried their luck on getting the $500 prize money.
The line-up was made up of actors, dancers, poets but many of them were musicians. The winners will compete at the finals to be held during the Intwasa Festival koBulawayo set for next week.
In the dance category, World of Wonders will battle it out with Anti-Virus Crew and Revolutionz. Finalists for the music category are Thee Way, R Crisp, Wanani Dube, Megatronz Vocals, Bluez Elements, Matombo Matombo Chirarama, Afro Boggie, Afrofresh, MJ, and Daniel and Victoria.
Buhle Nkomo was the only poet who made it on the day with her poem koBulawayo.
About 60 acts took part in the competition. Festival director Raisedon Baya said they were happy with the response.
“The response was good. We had several good acts and some talent that the judges noted and would be happy to nurture them for future,” he said.
The talent show was first won by the now popular gospel group Family Voices in 2011 and the second edition was won by dance sensation Xplosion.
The two winners have performed at Intwasa and went on to perform at other big occasions. The Most Amazing Talents Show is an exciting show modelled around other talent search shows such as America’s Got Talent and South Africa Got Talent.
