A Chakari woman will perform 175 hours of community service for stealing a phone and $350 from her husband’s suspect lover.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority identified the woman as Raramai Mamvura (30).

“Ruramai had approached the victim accusing her of having an extra-marital affair with her husband.

“When the victim denied the allegations, Ruramai turned violent, grabbed the victim’s neck and head-butted her.

“She pulled out a machete from her track bottom and threatened to strike her.

“She then took a Samsung A05 cellphone from the victim which had cash amounting to US$350 and a national identification card on the back cover of the cellphone,” reads the statement.

Ruramai was convicted after a full trial at the Chakari Circuit Court.

She was initially sentenced to 14 months in prison of which five months was suspended on condition she doesn’t commit a similar offence.
