EIGHTEEN pupils from Mutero High School were injured yesterday when their Toyota Quantum kombi overturned three times at the 106km peg along Harare-Masvingo highway near Chivhu.

A video clip circulating on social media shows pupils in agony. But they were soon picked up and taken to Chivhu General Hospital for medical attention.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said that the kombi was carrying schoolchildren from Mutero High School in Gutu plus the driver and a parent.

“The kombi was on its way to Masvingo when the driver lost control and the kombi overturned three times near Munyati Bridge and landed on its wheels.

“The accident occurred at around 10am. All the vehicle occupants are currently being treated at Chivhu General Hospital.”
