admin“For the past five years we have not been able to provide stands despite the increasing demand. The problem is that we do not have an adequate sewer and water reticulation system,” said Mr Ndlovu.
“These are very important before people start building houses. We have done proposals for the project and we need at least $700 000 for that.
“Once this has been done we can allocate stands to people. Our plan is to provide stands to 600 home seekers.”
He urged private developers to partner with the council in the provision of houses, sewer and water infrastructure.
Mr Ndlovu said most people at Maphisa were able to build houses on their own but were not able to do so because of inadequate sewer and water infrastructure.
“Maphisa has a great potential to grow faster and as soon as we get funding we are confident that our plans will flourish.
“Partnership is key in this whole process and we invite all organisations and private developers that are willing to approach us. As long as they would provide sewer and water reticulation we will give them the land to build houses for people,” said Mr Ndlovu.
