A TOTAL of 2 000 residents from Gweru’s Mkoba South constituency received free medical services over the weekend courtesy of Zanu-PF National Assembly aspiring candidate, Cde Wellington Magura.

Among the beneficiaries were elderly people from suburbs such as Mambo, Senga, Mkoba 1 and 11.
Cde Magura facilitated the free mobile clinic outreach programme as part of efforts to enhance access to health and counselling services.

During the programme residents were tested for diabetes, hypertension and peptic ulcer among other conditions by doctors and nurses under Zanu-PF affiliate group, Doctors and Nurses for ED. Pharmaceutical services were also given for free to those who required medication.

The programme also raised awareness on the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination programme and highlighted the Zanu PF-led Government’s policies and achievements.

Beneficiaries of the outreach programme commended the ruling party, Cde Magura and Doctors and Nurses for ED for the gesture.
Mr Edwin Shoko (55) commended Cde Magura and team Zanu PF for the outreach, which saw him getting three-month supply of hypertension tablets.

“This initiative by Zanu PF people is commended and we pray they go beyond elections because we really need medical assistance and just checkups,” he said.

“We applaud President Mnangagwa for inculcating new and modern political mobilisation approaches that are development focused.”
Mrs Martha Mwale (64) from Mambo suburb said the outreach programme assisted many members of the community to get free medical checkups as well as tips to lead healthy lifestyles.

She was diagnosed with high blood sugar and after being attended to, she was given drugs free of charge.
“I thank President Mnangagwa and his team for this medical outreach and we hope it can be sustained and made regular. A lot of us require medical assistance but at times we fail to access it for various reasons. This is wonderful I tell you,” said Mrs Mwale.

Mrs Charity Moyo from Mkoba 11 said she received treatment for arthritis and free drugs.
In his remarks Cde Magura said the initiative was aimed at improving the peoples’ health and hinted the outreach would be monthly thing.

He said the initiative was also aimed at fostering unity in support of President Mnangagwa and actualizing his Vision 2030.
“Over 2 000 residents from Mambo, Senga and Mkoba benefited from free medical services we held in Mambo suburb over the weekend as a way of improving people’s health,” said Cde Magura.

“Residents suffering from different ailments came and received treatments including the less privileged who cannot afford health care as well.”
