2 plumbers remanded for ‘raping’ teen

Brenda Zinyuke, Court Reporter

TWO plumbers from Bulawayo allegedly teamed up to rape a teenager at a house in Selborne Brooke suburb where they had been hired.

The duo from Magwegwe suburb, whose names have been withheld to protect the identity of the victim, allegedly took turns to rape the woman (18) in her bedroom.

They were not asked to plead when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Ulukile Muleya.

The magistrate remanded them in custody to September 20.

Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo said sometime in July this year, the men went to the victim’s home where they found her alone in one of the bedrooms.

“The accused persons allegedly took turns to rape her. They left her alone in the house without saying anything,” he said.

The complainant allegedly kept quiet about the rape incident until her aunt asked her why she had not used her sanitary wear.

Mr Dlodlo said the victim opened up about her ordeal and they both reported the matter to the police.

The girl was taken for medical examination and a medical report was compiled. @zinyuke98
