20 Hwange councillors sworn-in

HWANGE Rural District Council’s 20 elected councillors and six women’s quota representatives were sworn in on Monday, and begun an induction workshop yesterday.

The swearing in ceremony was conducted in Victoria Falls.

At the induction workshop, Hwange RDC councillors were joined by Hwange Local Board councillors.

The workshop, which is aimed at acquainting the councillors with local government regulations and requirements, is expected to end today.

Hwange Local Board councillors were sworn in last Monday. Hwange RDC chief executive Mr Phindile Ncube presided over the swearing in ceremony, which was also attended by acting Hwange District Development Coordinator Mrs Shamiso Masocha and other staffers from the office.

Mr Ncube said the date for the election of council committee chair and constitution of committees would be announced in due course.

The new Hwange RDC councillors comprise nine from Zanu PF, nine from CCC, one from MDC-T and an independent.

There are six proportional representation councillors, with both Zanu PF and CCC contributing three each.

The ZANU PF councillors are Cdes Vulindlela Mhlanga of Ward 1, Bongonkosi Moyo of Ward 2, Paul Kapanda of Ward 4, Africa Peggy Ncube of Ward 5, Lethukuthula Ngwenya of Ward 10, Joshua Tshuma of Ward 11, Fanuel Mudimba of Ward 7, Mathew Muleya of Ward 19 and Morven Mumpande of Ward 8.

The MDC-T has Clr Givemeagain Moyo of Ward 3 while Namo Chuma of Ward 6 is an independent.

The CCC has councillors Pasca Mpofu of Ward 9, Jowani Tshuma of Ward 12, Morris Sibanda of Ward 13, Valleta Moyo of Ward 14, Olpha Mujele Lisutu of Ward 15, Eugen Mafa Dube of Ward 16, Eugene Sibanda of Ward 17, Stanely Torima of Ward 18, and Wonder Ncube of Ward 20.

ZANU PF Women’s Quota councillors are Cdes Melina Gwebu, Sikathele Moyo, and Caroline Siankope, while Sipho Virginia Ncube, Sikhanyiso Moyo and Nolia Gumede are from CCC.
