20 teams clash in Horsepower tourney

After the games that were played on Wednesday, eight teams have been eliminated with 12 still left in the competition. The first round games were played in Sizinda and Eveline High School.

The quarter-finals will be played this Sunday at Eveline starting in the morning. According to the tournament organiser, Madodana ‘Horsepower’ Tshabangu the draw for the quarter-finals was conducted at Eveline soon after the first round games.

The remaining 12 teams have been placed in four different groups of three teams.

Top teams from the groups will progress to the semi-finals where they will battle it out to determine who goes to the final.

Tshabangu said he is happy with the level of competition shown during the first round.

‘I am quite happy with the progress we have made so far after the first round. The level of competition is excellent and we can only get better as the games head towards the quarter-final stage,’ said Tshabangu.

Tshabangu said they spread the games because they want to give each team an equal chance of progressing to the semis. If a team loses its games this Sunday, they have a chance of recovering in the second leg.

‘Again there is no need to worry and hurry as this is the festive season and people should get more football action,’ said Horsepower.
