Agricultural sector eyes growth: President

AGRICULTURAL production is set to contribute 19,3 percent to the Gross Domestic Product due to better preparedness from both Government and co-operating developing partners, President Mugabe has said.

Officially opening the 101st Edition of the Harare Agricultural Show yesterday, the President attributed the growth to better preparedness in the previous summer season from both Government and its partners.
“Indeed, agriculture is a major contributor to the Gross Domestic Product as shown by the fact that the years 2009 and 2010 the sector contributed 14,9 percent and 19,1 percent respectively to GDP,” he said.
