VICE President Joice Mujuru has criticised the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development and the Grain Marketing Board for distributing maize seed that is not suitable for those Mashonaland Central districts, mostly in the north of the province, that receive low rainfall.
The Vice President said the failure by the Ministry and its relevant department to distribute suitable seed has exposed people to starvation.
She was addressing villagers in Rushinga, in the northern part of Mashonaland Central, during a launch of a US$2 million project being implemented by the Community Technology Development Trust through a consortium called Promoting Recovery in Zimbabwe funded by the Catholic Relief Services.
