Early rains to go, say weather experts

THE week of evening rain hitting Harare and surrounding areas, while unusual for the end of September and early October, was caused by a band of cloud moving slowly north across Zimbabwe.
As is more usual after the first summer storms, cool air is now flowing north into Zimbabwe and the cold spell will last at least until tomorrow before temperatures start building up again to the traditional October heat.
Meteorological Services Department head of forecast, Mr Tich Zinyemba, said yesterday a band of disturbed weather had caused the rains.
“The rains were very transitory in nature.”
