PSL clubs get nod
By Ricky Zililo
THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has commended clubs for exhibiting stiff competition that saw the title and relegation being decided on the last weekend. Harare giants Dynamos were crowned champions after beating Kiglon 2-0 in a must-win encounter played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Their coach Callisto Pasuwa will go down in the history of the club as one of the former players who managed to win the title with the club as a player and as a manager. DeMbare, the country’s most decorated club in terms of winning the championship, staged a dramatic league comeback that saw them snatch the title away from newboys, FC Platinum.
The Zvishavane club led the title race for the better part of the season and losing 1-0 at home to Dynamos saw them surrender their top post with DeMbare going to the apex for the first time. The Rahman Gumbo-coached FC Platinum beat Shooting Stars 3-1 but that result could not topple the Harare giants from the top.
Dynamos ended the season tied on 58 points with FC Platinum, but were crowned champions due to a superior goal difference.
