More than 150 dead in Europe freeze

Warsaw — A cold snap kept Europe in its icy grip yesterday, pushing the death toll past 150 as countries from Italy to Ukraine struggled to cope with temperatures that reached record lows in some places.
Nine more people died in Poland overnight as temperatures plunged to -32° in the southwest, bringing the overall toll to 29 since the deep freeze began last week, national police said.

Three issues remain in Labour Act amendment negotiations: ZCTU

THE Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions has said three issues remain outstanding as negotiations continue to amend the country’s Labour Act to align it with principles of the International Labour Organisation.
The outstanding issues are the protection of salaries in the event of company closures, casualisation of workers and the setting up of an all-inclusive piece of legislation governing employees from the public and private sector.
