THE Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Cde Judith Ncube, has appealed to residents, businesses, transport operators and the informal sector to continue with their normal daily activities and disregard calls for an unlawful stay-away scheduled for Friday, 31 July.
Cde Ncube said Bulawayo has earned a reputation as a peaceful, resilient and industrious province, a standing that has attracted investment and enabled it to host major national and international events.
“Bulawayo Metropolitan Province has long been recognised as a province of peace, resilience, industry and enterprise. As Government, we highly value the prevailing peace, stability and social harmony that have enabled our province to attract investment, host major national and international events such as Mine Entra 2026, and create opportunities for economic growth and employment,” she said.
Cde Ncube said the province was privileged to host the official opening of Mine Entra 2026, which has attracted local and international delegates, investors, exhibitors and business leaders, further cementing Bulawayo’s position as Zimbabwe’s industrial hub.
“It is therefore imperative that we continue to safeguard the peaceful environment that has made Bulawayo a preferred destination for investment, tourism, business and national events,” she said.
The Minister urged members of the public not to participate in activities that could disrupt public order, stressing that peace and stability remain critical for sustainable development.
“The Office of the Minister respectfully appeals to all residents of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province to refrain from participating in any unlawful stay-away or activities that have the potential to disrupt public order. Peace remains the cornerstone of sustainable development. It is only within a peaceful and stable environment that businesses can thrive, investors can have confidence, visitors can feel welcome, and communities can pursue meaningful social and economic progress,” said Cde Ncube.She encouraged residents to report for work, keep businesses open, access essential services and support the many economic activities taking place across the province.
“We therefore encourage members of the public to continue with their normal daily activities, including attending work, operating businesses, accessing essential services and supporting the many economic activities taking place across our province,” she said.
Cde Ncube wished the people of Bulawayo a peaceful, productive and successful day, reaffirming Government’s commitment to maintaining peace, unity and normalcy throughout the province.
