Mercy Mujakachi
POLICE have urged members of the public to effect citizen arrest on officers that demand bribes and commuter omnibus crews that pay them.
Speaking at a crime awareness campaign in Bulawayo yesterday, National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba expressed concern over the increased incidents of police corruption, especially at roadblocks.
“At roadblocks a lot of corruption is happening in full view of passengers, especially in kombis. When you see it happening, effect a citizen arrest on both the driver and police officer. Alternatively members of the public can take down the registration number of the kombi, force number of the police officer, which is usually printed in the chest, take note of the time and place of incident and report at your nearest police station,” said Asst Comm Charamba.OMs, Western Panthers clash in Zimbo Cup final

Split looms in Traditional Medical Practitioners’ Council of Zimbabwe
Leonard Ncube
THE Traditional Medical Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (TMPC) is headed for a split after executive members based in Bulawayo and the Matabeleland region complained that the head office was sidelining them.
Sources from within the council said at some point, it was suggested that a board that would look into cultural issues specifically for Matabeleland region be set up, but the idea failed because of lack of support from the head office.
The sources said no member from Matabeleland region attended any meeting of the council last year although the Traditional Leaders’ Act specifies that there should be quarterly meetings attended by executive members.
