Chinese firm to build six chrome smelters
Chinese firm, Afrochine Smelting said on Wednesday it will commission two chrome smelters in June. Afrochine plans to build six smelters with capacity to produce 50 000 metric tonnes of ferrochrome per year.
CCZ petitions Parliament
The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe on Wednesday petitioned Parliament to pass a consumer protection law which it said was long overdue.
The CCZ has been lobbying Government since 2010 to enact the Consumer Protection Act.

US$32m boost for Hwange

HWANGE Colliery Company has concluded mining equipment supply facilities worth US$32 million as the company seeks to boost output.Substantial deposits for the new equipment and machinery have been made and delivery is expected by the end of June, chairman Mr Farai Mutangamira said.
Zimplats files objection over claims
ZIMPLATS, the country’s largest platinum firm says it has lodged an objection against the Government’s intention to acquire over 28 000 hectares of its idle claims.
Last month, the Government repossessed 27 948 hectares of Zimplats ground for allocation to other investors.
