TWENTY two Zimbabwean media professionals have concluded a 14-day exchange programme in China aimed at improving media coverage and reportage between the two countries, with a graduation ceremony marking the end of the programme.

During the programme participants visited various media houses and cultural sites in Changsha, Shanghai and Hangzhou, witnessing the vibrant energy of China’s modernisation drive and the timeless charm of its traditional culture.
The programme was organised by a Chinese tertiary institution, Hunan International Business Vocational College (HIBVC) and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
The initiatives cements the cordial bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and China, which date back to the days of the liberation struggle leading to the attainment of independence and beyond.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Seminar on Media Professionals for Zimbabwe in Changsha, China on Tuesday, Deputy Director of the Division of Hunan Resources in the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Mr Liu Zhankui commended the Zimbabwe media professionals for engaging in the programme.
“Over the past 14 days, each of you has demonstrated remarkable perseverance in overcoming linguistic, cultural and lifestyle differences,” he said.
“With enthusiasm and an open mind, you have engaged in professional training and in-depth discussions centered on the theme of ‘journalism and reporting’, significantly enhancing your comprehensive capabilities”.
Mr Zhankui said the success of this seminar stands as a testament to the deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and Zimbabwe.
“I encourage you to apply the knowledge and insights gained here to your professional endeavors, becoming pivotal contributors to the growth of Zimbabwe’s media sector,” he added.
“As you return home, I encourage you to continue learning about and engaging with China, nurturing the traditional friendship between our nations. Become new-era ambassadors for China-Zimbabwe ties, contributing to the advancement of our bilateral relations.”
