TWO Bulawayo men who were arrested for allegedly defrauding their employer of more than $23 000 have been acquitted.

Charles Nkomo (48) and Moffat Moyo (36) were accused of doing transactions without authorisation.

Western Commonage magistrate Mr Stephen Ndhlovu discharged the duo at the end of the State case yesterday.

Nkomo was operations manager and Moyo was a truck driver at ZM Transport.

Mr Ndhlovu concluded that the State failed to prove a prima facie case against the duo.

In his judgment, the magistrate said there was no evidence that Nkomo and Moyo made transactions without the consent of Mr Zibongiwe Madonko the financial manger and used the money for their personal benefit.

In their defence, Nkomo and Moyo said they made all transactions with the consent of the financial manager.

“There was no way I could have authorised transport to Chegutu without his signature,” said Nkomo.

Prosecuting, Mr Kenneth Shava said the duo, between 2010 and 2013, allegedly made unauthorised transactions of $23 530 with Flight Care Logistics company in Chegutu and shared the money.
