COMMERCIAL radio station, Breeze FM last week shortlisted 25 aspiring presenters, DJs and news anchors for further auditions ahead of the station’s launch in September.
The radio station, which was licensed by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe in March to start operating in Victoria Falls, is expected to start broadcasting in September this year together with its sister station, Skyz Metro FM which will be operating in Bulawayo.
Shortlisted candidates include journalist, Simbarashe Mutizwa, poet — Obert Dube, socialite — Cassandra Chawira, Tariro Musekiwa, Bwamio Mudimba, Thulani Tshuma, Owen Ndlovu, Modercai Ngazah, Lindatume Mudimba, Taffy Phiri, Royal Chealsea Ndlovu, Ray Karipache, Marvelous Chuma, Sheena Moyo, Memory Mdluli, Cleopatra Samende, Joe R Phiri, Patience Malaba, Latso Tshuma, Tafadzwa Mukombe, Ebna Nyoni, Thabiso Mabhena, Motsi Sihlabathi, Albert Hlabo and Shylet Ndirarami.
The 25 shortlisted candidates will go through another round of auditions where the final 10 will be selected. Those who will make it will be announced towards the end of the month.
FairTalk Communications shareholder, Cont Mhlanga said they were pleased with the auditions turnout. Over 100 people attended the auditions.
“The level of talent in Vic Falls compared to Bulawayo isn’t the same, but there’s potential. We managed to select a few who will further be trimmed down to 10,” Mhlanga said.
He said they were still looking for producers and urged those who were interested in joining their station to submit proposals to the station’s offices in Vic Falls.
Meanwhile, Skyz Metro FM renovations are underway with experienced foreign technicians working on the studio layout. The station is also meant to go live in September.
